The Eye 94 posters have been produced in initial sets of 50 at two enlargement scales. Printed digitally on an HP Indigo press, each unique 70 x 50 cm poster has been generated individually via a calibrated system based on three variables – the seed identifier, the print’s vector location and its scaling factor. Now available from the MuirMcNeil online shop, buyers will receive a one-of-a-kind poster, numbered and selected randomly from the series of their choice. Once purchased, no individual poster will ever be reprinted.
The posters are reproduced directly from the original seed files designed for Eye 94, a series of compositions in which the letters of the word ‘eye’ were repeated in fixed increments and in three layers, each typeset in a different font of the TwoPoint and TwoPlus type families. These settings followed consistent progressions in each of the three layers, which were shifted laterally in distances proportionate to the type size and spacing. At the output stage, HP Indigo’s Mosaic software was used to scale, position and crop sections of each seed file within defined parameters to generate 8000 unique front and back covers.
